Among other things, I am a college professor (tenured) who is interested in the politics of education, education policy, and urban education. In particular, I am interested in how education policy and curriculum has an impact on teachers and learners.
I used to teach high school in an inner city school and that drives me to work for better educational experiences for those who have not had equitable access in education. But my experiences in urban high schools have also fostered a great interest in how the high school curriculum (social studies, in particular) shapes our identities, and how who we are shapes what and how we teach and learn. I also maintain a blog on urban education, which can be found at www.theurbanfiles.blogspot.com.
When I'm not working on education-related projects, I can be found somewhere in my yard, gardening, sitting on the patio, lounging, or out walking/running (with and without dogs).
